Modes
Volume runs Life in a cube. Every cell has 26 neighbours (above, below and around it), so the rules are different from 2D. Pick a rule from the Rules menu.
Tower runs classic 2D Life on a flat board and stacks every generation on top of the previous ones, so you see its history as a 3D structure. The newest layer is on top.
About this version
This is the same simulation as the three.js version, drawn with the LittleJS engine. LittleJS is a 2D engine, so every live cell is one sprite of a shaded cube. Sprites are scaled by distance and sorted back to front, so the world still looks 3D.
Rule notation
B lists how many live neighbours a dead cell needs to be born. S lists how many keep a live cell alive. Classic 2D Life is B3/S23.
War
With factions on, every cell belongs to an army. Newborns join the faction most of their neighbours belong to. With conquest on, a cell outnumbered by one enemy faction switches sides. The last faction standing wins.
